Vietnamese dong (VND)

Currency

The Vietnamese đồng (ISO code: VND, symbol: ₫) is the official currency of Vietnam, issued by the State Bank of Vietnam. Established in its present unified form in May 1978 following the merger of North and South Vietnam, it was historically subdivided into 10 hào or 100 xu. Rapid economic expansion and past inflation rendered sub-units obsolete, making high-denomination banknotes the standard form of cash exchange across the country.
