Norwegian krone (NOK)

Currency

The Norwegian krone (ISO code: NOK, symbol: kr) is the official currency of the Kingdom of Norway, issued by Norges Bank. Introduced in 1875 when Norway joined the Scandinavian Monetary Union alongside Sweden and Denmark, it replaced the speciedaler. Subdivided into 100 øre, though coins in øre denominations have been withdrawn from circulation, the krone operates on a free-floating exchange rate system influenced heavily by global energy export prices.
