Uruguayan peso (UYU)

Currency

The Uruguayan peso (ISO code: UYU) is the official currency of Uruguay, introduced in March 1993 to replace the peso nuevo at a rate of 1 peso Uruguayo to 1,000 pesos nuevos. Issued by the Central Bank of Uruguay, it is subdivided into 100 centésimos, though low-denomination coins are rarely used. The peso operates under a floating exchange rate regime, providing monetary liquidity for domestic commerce and international trade.
