Indonesian rupiah (IDR)

Currency

The Indonesian rupiah (IDR, symbol Rp) is the official currency of Indonesia, issued by Bank Indonesia. Introduced in 1946 to replace the Dutch Indies gulden during the Indonesian National Revolution, it became the sole national currency in 1950. The rupiah is subdivided into 100 sen, though low coin values mean sen are no longer in active circulation, and prices are typically expressed in whole rupiah amounts.
