Chilean peso (CLP)

The Chilean peso, identified by the ISO code CLP and symbol $, is the currency of Chile. Issued by the Central Bank of Chile, the current iteration of the peso was established in September 1975, replacing the escudo following a period of high inflation. Although subdivided into 100 centavos, subunit coins were officially phased out of production due to inflation, leaving the peso as an integer unit.
