Moldovan leu (MDL)

Currency

The Moldovan leu (plural: lei, ISO code: MDL) is the official currency of Moldova, issued by the National Bank of Moldova. Introduced in November 1993 to replace the temporary Moldovan cupon at a rate of 1 leu to 1,000 cupons, it marked the establishment of an independent national monetary system following the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
