Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH)

Currency

The Ukrainian hryvnia (ISO code: UAH, symbol: ₴) is the official currency of Ukraine, introduced in September 1996 to replace the interim karbovanets at a rate of 1 hryvnia to 100,000 karbovantsiv. Divided into 100 kopiykas, its name derives from historical medieval Kievan Rus currency weights. Issued by the National Bank of Ukraine, the hryvnia operates under managed exchange policies to stabilize domestic financial transactions.
