Pakistani rupee (PKR)

Currency

The Pakistani rupee (symbol: ₨, code: PKR) is the official national currency of Pakistan, subdivided into 100 paisa. Introduced in 1948 following the partition of British India, it initially used provisional British Indian banknotes stamped with the government of Pakistan's name before the State Bank of Pakistan began issuing native currency. The rupee moved from a fixed exchange rate system to a managed floating exchange rate in 1982.
