Kenyan shilling (KES)

Currency

The Kenyan shilling (KES, symbol KSh) is the official currency of Kenya, issued by the Central Bank of Kenya. Introduced in 1966, it replaced the East African shilling at par following Kenya's political independence. The shilling is subdivided into 100 cents, though subunit coins are rarely used today. As one of the primary financial standards in East Africa, the Kenyan shilling serves as a benchmark currency across regional trade networks.
