Malagasy ariary (MGA)

Currency

The Malagasy ariary (ISO code: MGA) is the official currency of Madagascar, issued by the Central Bank of Madagascar. Introduced in 1961 alongside the Malagasy franc, it replaced the franc entirely as the official accounting unit in January 2005. Unique among world currencies, the ariary is a non-decimal currency divided into 5 iraimbilanja, making it one of only two non-decimal currencies in active global circulation.
