Jamaican dollar (JMD)

The Jamaican dollar (symbol: J$, ISO code: JMD) is the official currency of Jamaica, subdivided into 100 cents. Introduced in May 1969 to replace the Jamaican pound at a rate of two dollars to one pound, it was established by the Bank of Jamaica Act of 1964. The currency is issued exclusively by the Bank of Jamaica, featuring prominent national heroes and local fauna across its banknotes and coinage.
