Congolese franc (CDF)

Currency

The Congolese franc, represented by the ISO code CDF and symbol FC, is the official monetary unit of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It was re-established in 1997, replacing the zaïre at a rate of 1 franc to 100,000 zaïres under the government of Laurent-Désiré Kabila. Divided into 100 centimes, the franc is issued by the Central Bank of Congo, though foreign currencies also broadly circulate in local markets.
