Dominican peso (DOP)

Currency

The Dominican peso (DOP, symbol RD$) is the official currency of the Dominican Republic, issued by the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic. Introduced in 1937 to replace the United States dollar as legal tender, the peso was initially pegged at par with the U.S. dollar. Subdivided into 100 centavos, the currency now floats freely against major international currencies and serves as the primary standard of value across the nation.
