Omani rial (OMR)

Currency

The Omani rial (symbol: ﷼, code: OMR) is the official currency of the Sultanate of Oman, subdivided into 1,000 baisa. Issued by the Central Bank of Oman, the currency replaced the Saidi rial in 1972 following the nation's political modernizations. Due to Oman's substantial petroleum exports and economic policy, the Omani rial is pegged directly to the United States dollar, making it one of the highest-valued currency units in the world.
