Paraguayan guarani (PYG)

Currency

The Paraguayan guaraní (symbol: ₲, code: PYG) is the national currency of Paraguay, subdivided nominally into 100 Céntimos. Issued by the Central Bank of Paraguay, it was created by law in October 1943 and introduced in 1944 to replace the Paraguayan peso at a rate of 100 pesos to 1 guaraní. Named after the indigenous Guaraní people and language, it stands as one of the longest-surviving, un-redenominated currencies in Latin America.
