Colombian peso (COP)

Currency

The Colombian peso, denoted by the code COP and standard symbol $, is the official currency of the Republic of Colombia. First introduced in 1810 after breaking away from the Spanish real standard, the peso has undergone several monetary reforms throughout its history. Today, it is managed by the Banco de la República under a floating exchange rate regime without sub-units, as centavos were officially phased out due to inflation.
