Syrian pound (SYP)

Currency

The Syrian pound (ISO code: SYP, symbol: LS or £S) is the official currency of the Syrian Arab Republic, issued by the Central Bank of Syria. Introduced in 1924 during the French Mandate to replace the Egyptian pound, it is subdivided into 100 qirsh (piastres). The currency is regulated through official exchange rates set by the central bank, reflecting domestic monetary policy and economic shifts within the region.
