Cuban convertible peso (CUC)

Currency

The Cuban convertible peso, designated by the ISO code CUC, served as one of Cuba's dual official currencies alongside the Cuban peso (CUP) from 1994 until its phase-out in 2021. Pegged at par with the United States dollar, the CUC was initially introduced to capture foreign exchange from tourism and trade. Cuban authorities officially unified the currency system by removing the CUC from circulation in January 2021.
