Peruvian nuevo sol (PEN)

Currency

The Peruvian sol (symbol: S/., code: PEN) is the official currency of Peru, subdivided into 100 céntimos. Issued by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru, it was originally introduced in 1991 as the 'nuevo sol' to replace the hyperinflation-stricken inti at a rate of one million intis to one nuevo sol. In 2015, the Peruvian government officially renamed the currency back to 'sol' while retaining the ISO code PEN and its market stability.
