Thai baht (THB)

Currency

The Thai baht (ISO code: THB, symbol: ฿) is the official currency of the Kingdom of Thailand, issued by the Bank of Thailand. Originally a unit of mass equal to 15.244 grams of silver, the baht transitioned into a modern decimal currency divided into 100 satang in 1897 under King Chulalongkorn. Following the Asian financial crisis of 1997, Thailand abandoned its fixed peg to the US dollar, allowing the baht to float freely.
