North Korean won (KPW)

Currency

The North Korean won (symbol: ₩, ISO code: KPW) is the official legal tender of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, issued by the Central Bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Officially divided into 100 chon, the won was introduced in December 1947, replacing the Korean yen. A major currency revaluation occurred in November 2009, when old won banknotes were exchanged for new notes at a 100-to-1 ratio.
