Sierra Leone leone (SLE)

Currency

The Sierra Leonean leone (ISO code: SLE) is the national currency of Sierra Leone, redenominated in July 2022 at a ratio of 1,000 old leones (SLL) to 1 new leone. Subdivided into 100 cents, the leone was originally introduced in 1964 to replace the West African pound at a rate of two leones per pound. It is issued and managed by the Bank of Sierra Leone as a floating fiat currency used throughout the domestic economy.
