Libyan dinar (LYD)

Currency

The Libyan dinar (ISO code: LYD) is the official currency of Libya, issued and regulated by the Central Bank of Libya. Introduced in September 1971 to replace the Libyan pound at par, it is divided into 1,000 dirhams. Unlike many global currencies, the exchange value of the dinar is anchored to Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) defined by the International Monetary Fund, providing a framework for its official valuation.
