Acceleration is a vector quantity that measures the rate at which an object changes its velocity over time, encompassing changes in speed, direction, or both. Governed by Newton's second law of motion, it is fundamental to understanding force and motion in physics. While the primary SI unit is the metre per second squared, other specialized units, such as the Gal in gravimetry and the g-unit in aerospace, are widely used.
