Swedish krona (SEK)

The Swedish krona (ISO code: SEK, symbol: kr) is the official currency of Sweden, issued by the Sveriges Riksbank, the world's oldest central bank. Established in 1873 to replace the riksdaler upon the creation of the Scandinavian Monetary Union with Denmark, it is subdivided into 100 öre. Although physical öre coins are no longer minted, the krona operates as a free-floating currency deeply integrated into Nordic commerce.
