Surinamese dollar (SRD)

Currency

The Surinamese dollar (ISO code: SRD) replaced the Surinamese guilder in January 2004 at a rate of 1 dollar to 1,000 guilders. Subdivided into 100 cents, it serves as the official currency of Suriname and is issued by the Central Bank of Suriname. The currency was established to restore stability after hyperinflation degraded the value of the historical guilder, which had been linked to the Dutch guilder until the late 20th century.
