Polish zloty (PLN)

The Polish złoty (ISO code: PLN, symbol: zł) is the official currency of Poland, issued by the National Bank of Poland. Derived from the historical word for "golden", the złoty dates back to the late Middle Ages as a unit of account. The modern currency code PLN was established in 1995 following a redenomination that exchanged 10,000 old złotys (PLZ) for one new złoty after post-communist hyperinflation, divided into 100 groszy.
