Kyrgyzstani som (KGS)

The Kyrgyzstani som (symbol: сом, ISO code: KGS) is the official currency of Kyrgyzstan, issued by the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic. Introduced in May 1993 to replace the Soviet ruble at a conversion rate of one som to 200 rubles, it was one of the first independent currencies established among post-Soviet Central Asian states. The som is divided into 100 tyyn, though coins are rarely used today.
