Tablespoon
The tablespoon (symbol tbsp) is a unit of volume widely used in cooking and nutrition. In the US customary system, a tablespoon equals 3 teaspoons or 1/16 of a US cup (about 14.79 milliliters). In metric systems across the UK and Canada, it is standardized at 15 milliliters, whereas in Australia it equals 20 milliliters. The measure evolved from traditional dining cutlery into an officially standardized culinary unit.
