Fluid dram
A fluid dram (symbol: fl dr) is a historical unit of volume in both the US customary and British imperial systems, equal to 1/8 of a fluid ounce. In the US system, a fluid dram equals approximately 3.696 milliliters, whereas the imperial fluid dram equals about 3.551 milliliters. Originating as an apothecaries' measure for liquid pharmaceuticals, it was historically relied upon by pharmacists and physicians to dispense precise liquid dosages prior to modern metric standardizations.
