Cubic yard (yd³)
The cubic yard (symbol yd³) is an imperial and US customary unit of volume equal to the space inside a cube with sides of one yard (3 feet or 36 inches). One cubic yard equals 27 cubic feet, or exactly 0.764554857984 cubic meters. Officially defined via the International Yard and Pound Agreement of 1959 based on the metric meter, the cubic yard is the standard commercial measure for bulk materials like concrete, gravel, topsoil, and mulch.
