Square foot (ft²)
The square foot (symbol: sq ft or ft²) is an Imperial and US customary unit of area equal to the area of a square with sides of one foot. Standardized by the 1959 International Yard and Pound Agreement, one foot is defined as exactly 0.3048 metres, making a square foot equal to 0.09290304 square metres. The square foot is the predominant unit for measuring real estate, floor plans, and architectural spaces in the United States and Canada.
