The metric dunam (also known as the modern donum or strymma) is a standardized unit of land area equal to 1,000 square metres (0.1 hectares). Adapted from the Ottoman dunam—which historically varied based on the area a person could plow in a day—it was officially standardized to the metric system in the early 20th century across several successor states, including Israel, Jordan, Turkey, and Greece, for modern land registry.
