Alqueire baiano
The alqueire baiano is a traditional Brazilian land measurement unit primarily used in the state of Bahia and neighboring northeastern regions. Equal to 96,800 square meters (9.68 hectares), it is exactly four times the size of the alqueire paulista (24,200 m²). Originating from the volume of seed baskets used to sow a field during Portuguese colonization, it remains common in informal real estate and regional agricultural land valuation.
