Rod (rd)
The rod, abbreviated as rd and historically called a perch or pole, is a unit of length in the Imperial and US customary systems equal to 16.5 feet or 5.0292 metres. Historically defined in medieval England as the combined length of the left feet of sixteen men aligned heel-to-toe, it was codified in statutes such as the Composition of Yards and Perches and remains an established baseline unit in legal surveying and land measurement.
