Cycle per second (cps)
The cycle per second (symbol: cps or c/s) is a historic unit of frequency representing one complete wave or oscillation per second. Predominantly used in English-speaking countries during the early 20th century for radio and acoustic engineering, it was officially renamed the hertz by the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM) in 1960. Although legacy literature often references cps, it has been fully superseded by the hertz in modern SI usage.
