Argentine peso (ARS)

The Argentine peso, symbol $ and ISO code ARS, is the legal currency of Argentina, subdivided into 100 centavos. Introduced in 1992 under the Convertibility Plan, it replaced the austral at a rate of 1 peso for 10,000 australes. While initially pegged one-to-one to the United States dollar, the fixed exchange rate was abandoned in early 2002, transitioning the currency to a floating exchange rate regime.
