Minutes (minute)

The minute, symbol min, is a unit of time equal to 60 seconds or one sixtieth of an hour. Accepted for use with the SI, its historical origins trace back to sexagesimal astronomical calculations used by ancient Babylonian mathematicians and refined during the Middle Ages. The term originates from the Latin phrase pars minuta prima, meaning the first small part of an hour, established alongside the second as a standard subdivision of civil time.
